We made it about six episodes before the TIL Podcast fell to podfade. There were too many of us, we all had full-time jobs, the moderation was loose, and we never carved out a niche that would have made the show worth continuing. When our schedules shifted, we called it — and I asked everyone whether I could keep the name, which nobody minded. Know when to stop, and don't let sunk cost make the decision for you.

00:00:17 --> 00:00:21 six of this series. But for episode five, we
00:00:21 --> 00:00:24 kind of I think we got six. We we definitely
00:00:24 --> 00:00:28 suffered from pod fade, which is, you know, Most
00:00:28 --> 00:00:32 shows don't make it past eight episodes. So I
00:00:32 --> 00:00:35 think we got to six. And what we found were some
00:00:35 --> 00:00:37 of the problems I was mentioning earlier, right?
00:00:37 --> 00:00:39 There were a lot of us. It was not very well
00:00:39 --> 00:00:43 moderated. We were doing this on the side. We
00:00:43 --> 00:00:47 all had full time jobs and we didn't really see
00:00:47 --> 00:00:50 a very clear path to differentiating ourselves
00:00:50 --> 00:00:55 in a way that made sense from a monetization
00:00:55 --> 00:01:00 standpoint. But We also weren't doing a very
00:01:00 --> 00:01:02 good job with the show, right? We weren't doing
00:01:02 --> 00:01:04 a ton of research, at least all of us. I can't
00:01:04 --> 00:01:06 speak for all of my co -hosts. Some of my co
00:01:06 --> 00:01:10 -hosts are much better than me at this, but we
00:01:10 --> 00:01:14 weren't really doing our research. And so we
00:01:14 --> 00:01:17 were unable to carve out a niche for ourselves
00:01:17 --> 00:01:19 and we didn't really give it enough time either.
00:01:19 --> 00:01:22 But as our schedules change, right? Like six
00:01:22 --> 00:01:25 episodes if we were doing every two weeks was
00:01:25 --> 00:01:28 kind of like a College semester several of us
00:01:28 --> 00:01:31 worked at a college together two of us were still
00:01:31 --> 00:01:37 in college and so you can kind of see Hey the
00:01:37 --> 00:01:40 semester is changing our schedules are changing
00:01:40 --> 00:01:44 and We can't maintain this so we decided to call
00:01:44 --> 00:01:49 it quits At least in in that format Now we didn't
00:01:49 --> 00:01:51 have like a partnership agreement or anything.
00:01:51 --> 00:01:54 I kind of owned the website and the domain and
00:01:54 --> 00:01:57 everything and so I asked everybody hey like
00:01:57 --> 00:02:00 if I decide to continue this do you mind if I
00:02:00 --> 00:02:04 keep using the show and they did not care uh
00:02:04 --> 00:02:06 I wonder if they would have cared if it took
00:02:06 --> 00:02:08 off it didn't I'm still friends with everybody
00:02:08 --> 00:02:12 who's on the show um but that's we decided then
00:02:12 --> 00:02:16 to call it quits we couldn't dedicate we weren't
00:02:16 --> 00:02:18 dedicating the appropriate amount of time and
00:02:18 --> 00:02:21 we couldn't continue to dedicate even that amount
00:02:21 --> 00:02:24 of time to the show so that we decided to call
00:02:24 --> 00:02:28 it quits the tip or the reflection, know when
00:02:28 --> 00:02:34 to call it quits. Don't fall victim to the fallacy
