YouTube is going to keep being a big part of podcasting, and a lot of what Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and the hosts have changed recently is a response to it. The most interesting part for me is discoverability. Other platforms are only dabbling in algorithmic recommendations, while YouTube is very good at serving up something it thinks you'll like, and we've never had that in podcasting. With YouTube now letting channels classify content as a show, I think podcasting becomes its own pillar of their strategy, and a real boon for podcasters who are struggling to get found.

00:00:25 --> 00:00:28 think a lot of the changes we've seen with. Spotify
00:00:28 --> 00:00:31 and Apple podcasts and the hosts have to do with
00:00:31 --> 00:00:36 YouTube. The fact that they've introduced podcasting
00:00:36 --> 00:00:40 has kind of forced the market to move some features
00:00:40 --> 00:00:43 up and do some things that they probably otherwise
00:00:43 --> 00:00:45 weren't going to do. But the most interesting
00:00:45 --> 00:00:48 thing to me with YouTube and the future of podcasting
00:00:48 --> 00:00:54 is discoverability. Other platforms are not really

00:01:25 --> 00:01:27 think that's good. But I do think that things
00:01:27 --> 00:01:30 get discovered because of it, right? YouTube
00:01:30 --> 00:01:33 is very good at serving up a video it thinks
00:01:33 --> 00:01:37 you will like. And we've never had something
00:01:37 --> 00:01:39 like that in podcasting. And I think in the future,
00:01:39 --> 00:01:42 we're going to see more of it. So yes, people
00:01:42 --> 00:01:45 are adding videos to their podcasts because of
00:01:45 --> 00:01:48 YouTube. Yes, people are now calling their YouTube
00:01:48 --> 00:01:51 channels a podcast. YouTube has rolled out this
00:01:51 --> 00:01:55 New type of classification that you can do for
00:01:55 --> 00:01:59 your channel called a show Which I suspect I'll
00:01:59 --> 00:02:01 let the like other YouTube experts test this
00:02:01 --> 00:02:03 but they're noticing more people are consuming
00:02:03 --> 00:02:07 YouTube on the television but I think as as YouTube
00:02:07 --> 00:02:11 pushes to be the All -in -one entertainment thing
00:02:11 --> 00:02:13 that it's already pretty good at being Podcasting
00:02:13 --> 00:02:17 is probably its own pillar for their strategy
00:02:17 --> 00:02:20 and the biggest benefit that we as poders can
00:02:20 --> 00:02:27 see is using that to get discovered. And these
00:02:27 --> 00:02:30 strategies will evolve, but serve your audience,
00:02:30 --> 00:02:34 answer good questions. And I think that you can
00:02:34 --> 00:02:36 start taking advantage of that today. But I think
00:02:36 --> 00:02:40 it's going to affect what other podcast platforms
00:02:40 --> 00:02:42 do in the near future. But it's also going to
00:02:42 --> 00:02:45 be a big boon for posters who are struggling
