I was there to learn and do exactly what I was told. We faced some trial and error and hit some friction, but we found our rhythm: measure, mark, dig, test, level, fill, and move on.
This reminded me of starting new projects. After 20 years as a web developer, I’m now jumping into projects like podcasting and systems building. They’re new and different, and I can’t apply everything I learned before.
Just like with the fence, we tried, documented, and refined. Starting new can be tough, but from that friction, a process can rise.
What do you do when you’re starting something new? Let me know in the comments!
